SPRING:

As water temperatures start to warm in March. We see the first signs of the spring steelhead run. Steelhead Stay abundant until early May as both trout and steelhead take advantage of the abundance of aquatic life reappearing after a long winter. As the steelhead leave for Lake Michigan trout fishing stays strong through June with many significant bug hatches and baitfish available to prey on.

SUMMER: 

As the warm days of summer settle in, we wrap  up our trout fishing and begin to target smallmouth bass. The Muskegon offers significant smallmouth populations that are a blast to target with a fly rod or spin tackle. Weather you’re chugging poppers across the surface or jigging crayfish on the bottom they put up a tuff fight and are great for all skill levels. Time to ditch the waders and fleece for flip flops and t-shirts

Fall:

During our Fall season, there are plenty of opportunities for the salmon and steelhead angler. Enjoy big fish with lots of acrobatics and great fall colors as the seasons are changing. Salmon are on their annual spawning run as steelhead and trout are not too far behind ready to gobble up any remaining salmon eggs.

WINTER: 

Solitude comes to mind while fishing on the river during winter, as the temperature drops the river seems to rest. Quiet and scenic as the water flows to Lake Michigan. Though quiet and almost lifeless under the water there is still an abundance of life taking place. Steelhead and trout hold in the deeper wintering pools eager for a meal to cross their path.
