Fishing Report June 6th 2024
Trout fishing has remained good as we head into the month of June. This time of year there is so much for an angler to do. Most of our focus has been on trout fishing, but we have been picking up some nice smallmouth bass here and there as well. As we near the end of June, smallmouth will be our main focus going into July and August.
Day time fishing is presenting some great opportunities swinging wet flies and tossing streamers or crank baits around. Pheasant tail and caddis soft hackles have been producing most of our bites. Throwing in a minnow or fry pattern has worked well especially on the colder mornings when there are less bugs around. Streamers in white, yellow and chartreuse combinations have been getting some cool eats from predatory brown trout and smallmouth. Our evening hatches are in full swing presenting some great opportunities to fish dry flies, with sulfurs and caddis flies being the main meal ticket. Our usual grey drake hatch has been spotty at best with fewer of them around for this time of year.
There are still a couple days/evenings available on my calendar if your interested in getting out on the river! June looks like a promising month with great water levels and temps.
See you on the river! - Capt. Ross
